🚨 This could be our FINAL call for help 🚨

Dear rabbit lovers and supporters of the Hong Kong Rabbit Society,

We are writing on behalf of more than 90 abandoned rabbits, holding on to one final thread of hope that you might help us create another miracle. Please read, and please share. 🙏

For over 20 years, the Hong Kong Rabbit Society has protected and cared for abandoned rabbits. We have rescued 2,515 rabbits, witnessing countless miracles of survival and second chances. Today, we are caring for 90+ rabbits, over 60% of whom are elderly, sick or disabled.

From January to April 2026 alone, medical expenses reached HKD 600,000 — a cost that has pushed us to the brink.

Despite exhausting personal savings and loans to keep the rabbits safe, our cash flow can no longer cover rent and urgent medical bills.

Our current situation

For a long time, to keep the 90+ rabbits safe during a crisis of rent arrears and overwhelming medical bills, our founder and committee members have personally advanced and borrowed over HKD 700,000 as emergency funding.

Despite exhausting personal savings and loans to keep the rabbits safe, our cash flow can no longer cover rent and urgent medical bills.

To fulfil our responsibility to the rabbits currently in our care, we have formulated the following plan:

📍 Phase 1: Crowdfunding – HKRS Medical Fund (Target: HKD 2.5 million)

Please support the Hong Kong Rabbit Society Medical Fund. Every donation counts — please act now:

https://fundraising2026.hkrabbit.org

1️⃣ Securing medical care

Donations will be used for rabbits’ medical expenses from May 2026 to March 2027, giving us a critical buffer period to seek long-term funding.

2️⃣ Reopening the adoption area

To increase transparency and promote adoption, we will reopen our adoption area for public visits by appointment (details to be announced). We hope you will come and meet the 90+ rabbits in person and see for yourself why this fight matters.

3️⃣ Immediate measures

Due to severe resource shortages, we have suspended all surrender applications and emergency intakes to focus all remaining resources on the rabbits already in our care. We also solemnly promise that no rabbit will be denied medical treatment due to lack of funds.

📍 Phase 2: Seeking an organisational takeover (if fundraising falls short)

If we fail to raise sufficient funds within the stated timeframe, we will proactively seek capable corporations, charitable foundations, or benefactors to take over operations.

📍 Phase 3: Closure (if no takeover is possible)

This is the outcome we dread most. If there are neither funds nor a successor, we will be forced to begin closure procedures and properly rehome all rabbits.

Priority will be given to legally licensed charities in Hong Kong holding a valid 88 licence.

For more than two decades, we have witnessed countless miracles with Hong Kong’s abandoned rabbits. Now, they are waiting for you to help make one more miracle possible.

No matter how difficult things become, we promise:

The rabbits’ wellbeing will always come first. No rabbit’s medical needs will ever be ignored.

With heartfelt urgency,

Founders and Committee of the Hong Kong Rabbit Society
