Baby Kisses

A baby rabbit (Kisses) is discovered by a HKRS member on June 15. It was abandoned and was being chased by a dog. The member immediately saved Kisses or else it almost became a dog snack. The member found that Kisses’ right leg was abnormal, she suspected fracture in its leg. The situation is quite serious. The member did not know how to take care of it so she referred Kisses to HKRS.
Kisses’ size is only as big as a palm. When it walks it lifts up the right foot and bending the spine. Kisses is too young and because of the pain, it lost its appetite. We need to force feed it and help it to clean the body. Kisses is really a very good rabbit, it will lick the hand of the staff to show their gratitude.

We arranged Kisses to see the veterinarian. According to the x-ray and reflex testing, it was obvious to see the leg fracture is divided into two parts. The broken bones broke into the muscle and caused inflammation so it was swelling. Reflex test result showed that Kisses’ right foot has no reaction. We thought the injury has affected the nerve tissue. Therefore we arranged it to see the orthopedic veterinarian the following day to discuss the feasibility of doing the surgery. Vet believed that he can put screws or inserts steel to reinforce its leg, Since the situation is too serious, they immediate do the surgery for Kisses.

When they started the surgery, there is much pus and the infection is very serious. It has infected to the waist and even they cut the right foot they cannot stop the infection spread to other tissue. Thus a final decision is made. We decide to let it leave without pain.

Kisses was only few months old but already suffered so much. Baby Kisses ….. you will live happily at the rainbow and we will always bless you.
